This Domain is Already Assigned to an Account and in use

I purchased a new domain name and hosting space. But while connecting the domain name to the hosting account, I get an error.
The error message says- the Domain is already assigned to an account and in use with another account. What does it mean?

It says someone has pointed a hosting account from your company to the domain name you owned. You must ask the hosting company to reset the old pointing.

I purchased the web hosting from GoDaddy. I contacted them and fixed the problem.
