Can AntiVirus Slow Down a Computer?

I installed an AntiVirus on my Windows computer, and now the system is slow. Is it normal or should I worry?

An AntiVirus application can slow down a computer if it does not have the minimum required resources. Which AntiVirus did you install on your computer? Can you tell us the OS, RAM, and other specifications?

Norton antivirus is a heavy application.

I too had similar experince as ron. I removed the antivirus and the system started operating faster.
