• Verizon MI424WR rev G

• Actiontec MI424WR Wireless

Let us change the default wireless network name of a Verizon Fios Router.

How to Change the Default FIOS Router Wireless Network Name?


You can change the current FIOS router wireless network name (SSID) by following the steps below.

1. Connect your computer to the Verizon Fios Router using an Ethernet cable.
   
   Connect the Ethernet port to one of the LAN ports on the router and the LAN port on your PC.
2. Power on the Fios Router and wait till the lights are steady.
3. Open a browser ( Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) and type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar.
   
   Press the Enter key to connect to the GUI of the Verizon router.

   The default Verizon FIOS Router login password is on the bottom of the router. Type that password in the password field.
   
   Click the OK button to access the FIOS Router Setup window.

6. You can change the default SSID with a new name on the Wireless Settings window.
   
   
   
   
   The new SSID will be the new name for your Verizon WiFi network. Click the Apply button to save the SSID name change.
